R/V LAURENCE M. GOULD PUBLISHED 5/6/99 09:41 OPERATING SCHEDULE 2000 General Information: Maximum cabin berthing is 28 including ASA staff. In addition, two berthing vans will be available to provide additional passenger space as needed. These will increase the berthing limit on transits to Palmer Station to a total of 36. Opportunities exist on oceanic transits for collection of underway scientific measurements. Please contact Jim Holik, Manager of Marine Science, holikji@asa.org. Numbers shown in the #PAX column below are current totals of all assigned or planned berthing spaces. No numbers in this column indicates the information is not yet available. When the ship discharges or takes on passengers during the cruise (such as at Palmer Station), both the initial and final pax numbers are shown. Grantees should plan to board the ship the night before the scheduled departure date, and to depart the ship the morning after the ship returns to port. Port calls generally require five days. This can sometimes be reduced to four days to meet mission-critical requirements. This schedule incorporates the following changes from the previous schedule published 4/23/99 CRUISE/PROJECT DATES #PAX ARR/DEP COMMENTS |------------------------------------------------------------------- |------------------------------------------------------------------| |LMG00-1 |17-Dec | |LV:PUQ | |46| | |21-Dec | | |Call at Cape Shirreff | | |LTER |22-Dec | |AR:PAL | | | | |26-Jan | |AR:PAL | | | | |28-Jan | |LV:PAL | | | |POC-Kluckhohn |01-Feb | |AR:PUQ | | | |------------------|-------|----|--------|----------------------|--| |LMG00-2 |05-Feb | |LV:PUQ | |21| | |09-Feb | |AR:COPA |Deliver COPA construct| | |BO-050-O Smith,K. |10-Feb | |LV:COPA | | | | |11-Feb | |AR:PAL | | | | |12-Feb | |LV:PAL | | | |POC-Hickey |26-Feb | |AR:PUQ | | | |------------------------------------------------------------------| |LMG00-3 |01-Mar | |LV:PUQ | |34| |GO-096-O Domack |05-Mar | |AR:PAL | | | |BO-303-O DeMaster|06-Mar | |LV:PAL | | | | |31-Mar | |AR:/LV:P| | | |POC-Michaelson |04-Apr | |AR:PUQ | | | |------------------|-------|----|--------|----------------------|--| |LMG00-4 |08-Apr | |LV:PUQ | |20| |NSF Reserved Opera| | |AR:PAL |Date of Palmer calls T| | | | | | |will be a call at the | | | | | |LV:PAL |end of the cruise. | | |POC-Evans |28-Apr | |AR:PUQ | | | |------------------------------------------------------------------| |LMG00-5 |15-May | |LV:PUQ | |27| |BO-050-O Smith,K |19-May | |AR:PAL | | | |Scheltema (4) | | | | | | |Sturz(2)T.Chereski|21-May | |LV:PAL | | | |POC-Hickey |11-Jun | |AR:PUQ | | | |------------------------------------------------------------------| Haz/Rad waste transit to CONUS Summer 2000 Dry Dock in Talcahuano Dec 18-Dec 28 2000 10 days COPA= Copacabana Field Camp, King George Island PUQ=Punta Arenas, Chile PAL=Palmer Station, Antarctica, USA TAL=Talcahuano, Chile DEC= Deception Island ___________________________________________________ Captain David A.
